In the spirit of thanksgiving and thankfulness, I wanted to share a little post from our trip to Iowa (back in October).
Words fall short to explain how beautiful it was to see my Dad and Anna bond. To see them stroll down paths together, reading stories or snuggling in bed watching "Winnie the Pooh". Just seeing the two of them happy together...it was so sweet to witness. My dad is really amazing with Anna, they are buddies, he give her his attention and he gets down on her level. Honestly best grandpa status :)
Nearly everyday since our trip, Anna has asked me "go to grandpa's house please, go to grandpa's house...can I watch winnie the pooh with grandpa?" My dad got Anna several boxes of Annie's bunny gummies, and every time she had one she said "grandpa gave them to me". It simultaneously makes me so happy and yet so sad. My heart breaks with joy to see her love for her grandpa, and while I love that she asks to go to see grandpa (almost every time we get in the car), it makes me so sad that we can't, we can't just go see grandpa. Living so far from my dad (and sisters) is really hard, specially right now, every time we see them so much time has passed. But I don't know what to do, we really feel right here, but I find myself often hoping that star trek "beam me up" thing will get invented soon.
But despite the distance, I am so thankful for my family and the time I spend with them and I can't wait to see them again!
